THE CAROUSAL OF PROGRESS

THE CAROUSAL OF PROGRESS

Yesterday I met with my son Zach and grandson Seth at a walking trail along the Clinch River. WE talked about events in the world and how end time scenarios are being fulfilled in our day. Finally Zach said to me, “I don’t mean to sound rude or anything, but the baby boomer generation really did destroy America.” I had to agree.

With the Rock invasion of the 60’s came a flood of change, an invasion of eastern religions and the New Age Movement along with rebellion against every form of Christian civilization. And now those drug addled, demon infested Hippies of the past are running our country. In truth, the swamp really does need to be drained. Indeed Washington has fallen and she has become a “dwelling place of demons and a prison of every unclean spirit and a prison of every unclean and hateful bird.” Rev. 18:2.

I shared with Zach, my experience at the 1960 World’s Fair in Seattle Washington. I was 13 years old, but I remember it well. I especially remember an exhibit called the “Carousal of Progress” put on by General Electric. It was a round building with a series of stages in the center. ON each stage was presented the progress of technology beginning with wood cooking stoves and old irons that were heated on the stove and hand pumped water and such. Then the whole building would revolve to the next stage showing the ever increasing progress and hopeful times of ease that G E would bring us

The final stage showed the perfect family with pet dog, sitting at ease together in the perfectly modern living room watching TV while the dish washer was washing the dishes and the Clothes washer was washing the clothes and the automatic stove was cooking dinner as the family enjoyed a peaceful time together in the living room.

Well, things have gone differently than was projected. IN order to pay for all those appliances, women had to go to work leaving the TV to babysit their kids and nobody joins together in the living room because the kids have their own TV in their bedroom or they otherwise isolate themselves from the world with ear buds and video games and texting. Not only that but  we no longer allow time for washing dishes, or laundry, but instead cram more into the day so that life has actually become more frenzied rather than less and these days, even two incomes barely keep food on the table.

Seth was now walking ahead of us and I told Zach that I feel sorry for today’s youth. They are here to reap what we have sown and there is no longer that bright hope that technology is going to solve any of life’s problems, or that things are going to get better.

The whole earth is coming under an oppressive darkness… a globalist police state in which every original thought will soon be stamped out and forced into conformity with the globalist mind. For this the Bible must be increasingly be squelched and gotten rid of because Christianity is truly the only bastion of freedom and human dignity. It offers the picture of man, made in the image of God and having dominion over the works of His hands, but not at all the kind of dominion that the globalists now offer. Theirs is dominated by control, whereas God offers us love and inspiration of the Spirit filled life. We are destined to enjoy the freedom of the sons of God, not the tyranny of enslavement under mind control and forced normalcy.

The freedom that the baby boomer generation thought to bring to us has resulted in ever increasing slavery, increasing rules, thought police, political correctness and corruption at every level of society. They are banning the Bible because it dares to define evil… and most of all because it allows people to think for themselves even as they love and serve their Creator.

God put two trees in the Garden simply because without choice love has no meaning. We had to choose one or the other. The tree of life represented Jesus Himself, and well, the tree of knowledge looked good but it had a serpent in it. HE offered a form of knowledge apart from God and as we are increasingly finding out, knowledge apart from God leads to absolute slavery. Only the Spirit of God can bring liberty. Man, apart from God always ends up enslaving himself and others.

Coming out of Egypt is all about coming out of slavery. It is about coming into the freedom of the sons of God. Freedom apart from God can only progress toward slavery because any form of “truth” apart from God must of necessity be built upon lies. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life so that if you reject Jesus Christ the light of the world, then your way will be the way of destruction, your truth will be made of lies that lead to slavery and your life will be a pathway to death… ever descending into a self-made hell.

There was a special on “TV the other day showing a few of the richest women in the world. Every one of them was absolutely the ugliest most nightmarish looking people you could ever hope not to meet. Years and years of Botox and plastic surgery had left their flesh like globs of bread dough hanging off of their bones. It was pitiful and yet they had paid millions of dollars for this.

And what is the next technology going to offer us? Is it not Transhumanism, integrated bio- technologies that combine man and machine… what kind of mess is that going to make of society?

Amazon recently employed an AI program for processing the many thousands of employment applications, but they had to scrap the program because it was found to be sexist. Having a longer history of men in technical positions the computer would end up choosing men over women for technical jobs. Even AI computers can only do what they are programmed to do and they will reflect the biases of their creators. They thought the computer would be unbiased when in fact they simply reflected the biases of those that programmed them.

What does that tell us about the age just before us, when Artificially Intelligent computers begin to profile every person on the planet to determine their productivity level and if they are worthy of the resources, such as food and water and energy that they use.  In China, this technology is being employed to determine how much time people waste. But if going to church and studying you Bible and praying are all deemed as a waste of time, then the question comes up. Are you really worthy of the carbon footprint that you are leaving behind you, or are you just a” useless eater?” What about the poor, the aged and those who are dependent upon a pension or Social Security, or charity…  Would it not be better for society to terminate unproductive people for the good of the whole? AI computers will surely think so.

But Jeremiah gives us a little peek into God’s mind when he said: “Now the word of the Lord came to me saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you and before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Jer. 1:4, 5

Such a person would be deemed unnecessary in an AI program, but in God’s eyes, he was highly important.

Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting, that I might not be delivered up to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm.” John 18:36

I, for one, am so very glad that His kingdom is not of this present world. What hope would we have if Jesus was merely a part of this present system? We as Christians are literally investing everything in an eternal kingdom that will be around long after the kingdoms of this world have crumbled into dust… this is why we need to learn to think eternal thoughts rather than temporal thoughts. We need to seek after eternal kingdom purposes rather than fleeting pleasures of this fallen kingdom.

We need the mind of Christ (Phil. 2:5, 1 Cor. 2:16) and the Spirit of Christ, (1 Cor. 3:16, 1Cor 6:11) for even though He took on human flesh and died for our sins, (Heb. 2:14-18) He also rose from the dead to become our eternal High Priest in the heavens. (Heb. 7:17, 8:1, 2) And He has sent down His very life, His very Spirit to dwell in us so that we too can participate in this eternal life both now and in the future. (Acts 1:8, Acts 2:1-4, Acts 2:33)

The world’s Carousal of progress is a road to nowhere. Today’s progressives are on a road to nowhere. They may eventually seek to put us to death for our faith, but even then they will only be setting us free to join the church of the first born in heaven. They can try and impose their slavery upon me but I join Paul in saying: “For me to live is Christ and to die is gain.” (Phil. 1:21)

Paul was facing imminent death at the hands of Rome but he still considered it to be his choice and not theirs. In fact he said: “I am hard-pressed from both directions, having the desire to depart and be with Christ for that is very much better; yet to remain on in the flesh is more necessary for your sake.” Phil. 1:23, 24.

This is the kind of freedom that God offers. It is a freedom in which you cannot lose whether you live or you die… and look who was putting him to death: It was the kingdom of Satan trying to put out the light of freedom that the early Christians had.

“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15
