WHEN CALAMITY COMES

WHEN TROUBLE COMES                 “There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright and one that feared God and eschewed evil.” Job 1:1                 Job is sort of a mystery man. It is said that he lived during a period of time between Noah’s flood and Abraham. So we find ourselves wondering how it was that Job knew God and worshipped Him the same way that Adam had worshipped Him after the fall… by building an altar to the Lord.                 Godless scholars would have us believe that there was no connection between Adam and Abraham and they will go on to claim that Moses also learned His religion from the Egyptians and from Summarian myths and such, but this is simply not true.                 There was a vital line of truth coming from Adam to all of God’s faithful patriarchs who lived before the flood and Noah and His sons held that knowledge in their hearts and carried it through the flood. Further

OF THRESHING FLOORS

OF THRESHING FLOORS                                 Threshing floors have an interesting history in the Bible. In Genesis 50 Joseph and a great company of both family and Egyptians gathered on the threshing flor of Atad to mourn the death of Joseph’s father. It was on the threshing floor in Bethlehem at the barley harvest that Ruth and Boaz had their encounter and Boaz became the kinsman redeemer that redeemed Ruth and their marriage became the lineage of King David and eventually of Jesus Christ the Son of God.                 This story is so rich with symbolism and meaning that it cannot be passed by. Bethlehem was the town in which Lambs were raised for the temple sacrifices. So Ruth and Boaz, the progenitors of the Messiah, the true Lamb of God met on the threshing floor in Bethlehem where the sheep are raised for the sacrifices in the temple. Their offspring became the true Lamb of God. But that is not all, for they met at the time of the Barley harvest and it

TRIED BY FIRE

TRIED BY FIRE                 It is interesting how the truths of the bible remain somehow vibrant and relevant to our times. Truth is that way you know. Truth remains forever relevant simply because truth and reality is the same thing and reality doesn’t change unless God changes it.                 One major change in our reality happened at the cross where Jesus swallowed up all of human history by His death and then offered us a new kingdom by His resurrection. Of course this is a reality that only changes as we by faith enter into that new kingdom. For everyone else the same old darkness rules and all is vanity.                 Satan and men have tried to change reality by changing times and laws that God has set, but notice what the bible says about it: “And he will speak out against the Most High and wear down the saints of the Highest One and He will think to change times and laws and they will be given into his hand for a time, times and half a time.

WHEN JEZEBEL REIGNS

WHEN JEZEBEL REIGNS                 When Jezebel, the Phoenician wife of Ahab reigned as queen in Israel, she killed all of the prophets of God and replaced them with 400 prophets of Asherah (Astarte) and 450 prophets of Baal. So their remained only 100 prophets of God in Israel and they were hiding in a cave with the help of a man called Obadiah who hid them and brought them food to eat.                 There was only one prophet on the loose and hiding in the wilderness in those days and that was the prophet Elijah. To this one,   God gave the task of confronting Jezebel and the entire nation of Israel that by this time was mostly been given over to the gods of Jezebel and Ahab, a rather weak king who just sort of sat back wringing his hands and let Jezebel do her thing.                 In 2016 America too hung in the balances, for a modern Jezebel and her weak Husband Ahab were all lined up to ascend to the throne of this nation… a nation that had allowed

SONS OF GOD

THE SONS OF GOD                 Who are the sons of God?   The book of Job introduces them and we presume them to be angels, but then we are left with the tantalizing question found in Hebrews 1:5 where it asks:                                 “To which of the angels did He ever say, ‘Thou art My Son, today I have begotten Thee? And again, “I will be a Father to Him and He shall be a Son to Me.” And when He again brings the first-born into the world He says, “and let all the angels of God worship Him and of the angels He says, ”Who makes His angels winds and His ministers a flame of fire,” But of the Son He says, “Thy throne O God is forever and ever and the righteous scepter is the scepter of His kingdom.                 In other words the entire first chapter of Hebrews is devoted to establishing the superiority of Jesus over the angels. Jesus is from a different class of spiritual beings and in fact He is part of the eternal Godhead, and so Hebrews 1:13 as

IN HIM

IN HIM                 We all start life in the Old Covenant. We are born under law. We are born as children of the first Adam and so we are citizens of a fallen kingdom. Everyone on this planet is born as a child of fallen Adam and we are all born under the Law.                 From this standpoint we can understand that the Law cannot be done away. The fact of the matter is that everyone who is not born again into the second Adam, Jesus Christ is still a child of the first Adam and part of a fallen race that is not destined for heaven or any kind of a future that anyone would choose if they understood it. We are born as sinners with a sin nature and from our very first breath and onward, we belong to this kingdom that was given over to Satan on that traitorous day in the Garden of Eden.                 You cannot do away with the Law because in fact there are millions of people living in it and by it. Humanity is under a curse and so is all of creation. Thi
