TIME AS WE KNOW IT
TIME AS WE KNOW IT
No
matter how sophisticated car engines get, they all need 3 things. They need
fuel, air and spark. In my day it was a carburetor. Now it is fuel injectors. But
basically fuel is vaporized and shot into the chamber while the piston is down.
The piston then comes up and just when it is at its peak of compression, the
spark plug sparks igniting the fuel air mixture and that explosion pushes the
piston back down to repeat the cycle over again.
One of
the most important parts of the car’s engine is the timing chain. It connects the
crank shaft, the valve shaft and the spark mechanism together so that
everything happens at just the right time. If the timing is off and the spark
doesn’t spark when the compression is at its peak, the car will misfire or back
fire. At any rate it sounds bad and the car has no power and it is time to go
in for a tune up.
Now
this may sound like an unlikely leap to you, but let us say that heaven does not
have a timing belt. God dwells outside of time and heaven itself is in a
dimension in which there is no time as we know it. Time is irrelevant in a
non-physical and eternal universe.
But when
God created the physical universe, He created it with certain time markers or
cosmic clocks. Genesis 1: 14 says: “Then God said, “ Let there be lights in the
expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for
signs, and for seasons, and for days and years.
God in
His foreknowledge understood that time as we know it here on earth is
temporary. This is why we talk about the beginning of time and the end of time.
And when Adam and Eve sinned, God set our cosmic time clocks for 6000 years according
to the days of creation and added a 7th millennium, or Sabbath
Millennium when we and our earth will
enter into rest.
During
this millennial Sabbath rest we are told that we will once again worship the Lord
on new moons and Sabbaths. Isaiah chapter 66 talks about the regathering of God’s
chosen people to the land of Israel in the last days. Verse 18 says: “For I
know their works and their thoughts; the time is coming to gather all nations
and tongues. And they shall come and see My glory.” And in verses 15 through 17
speak of a judgment of fire, but that those who sanctify and purify themselves
will go into the gardens. And verse 23 says: “And it shall be from new moon to
new moon and from Sabbath to Sabbath, all mankind will come to bow down before
Me“, says the Lord.
Well,
if we compare this with Revelation 21:22, 23 we see that in eternity there will
be no temple for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb will be its light and there
will be no need of the sun or the moon to shine upon it for the glory of God
has illumined it and its lamp is the Lamb.”
But
during the 7th millennium Ezekiel’s temple will be built and from
new moon to new moon and from Sabbath to Sabbath shall all flesh come to
Jerusalem to worship the King.
Now let’s
back up a bit and explore another thought. Let’s say that God established and
set earth’s cosmic time clocks and made Moedim or appointed times when heaven
and earth would touch each other. Before the fall, God walked with Adam and Eve
in the cool of the evening. Their fellowship was continuous. But as soon as
Adam and Eve sinned, heaven and earth parted company. The dimensions were
separated and sinful man could no longer simply walk and talk with God in his
sinful state. The problem was that in time nobody knew about heaven’s cosmic
time clock and the appointed times when we would have access to God.
So when
God called a people out of the pagan Egyptian world system, one of the things
He did was to make them aware of these cosmic appointed times. God set them up
as feast days and Sabbaths and just as it says in Genesis 1:14, these cosmic
events were timed by the sun, moon and stars. The sun would mark the years and the
moon would mark the months and so the cycles of the moon would tell Israel
where they were in time. They could set their spiritual clocks so to speak by the
New Moons and they could mark time in 7s as each 6 day week ended with a
seventh day of rest called the Sabbath.
I would
like to say that a big part of Israel’s blessing in every aspect of life was
made abundant simply because their timing chain had been adjusted to where
earth was at the peak of its compression exactly when heaven’s spark, sparked and
this is how God set up Israel to be blessed as they observed the appointed
times and Sabbaths. God was realigning earth and heaven, giving Israel the keys
to the appointed times.
Notice if
you will that when Israel would go into idolatry, their “timing chain” would
get out of time with heaven’s spark, and God took it so seriously, that He
would send them into exile or captivity so that the land could have its
Shemitah or Sabbath rests.
The
coming millennium then will be a time when among other things, God will put the
whole world back into timing with heaven. And this, along with Yeshua’s ruling
the nations with a rod of iron, will go a long way in restoring the earth and
its people to the eternal purposes of God.
So when
the 7th or Sabbath millennium is over, it will be the end of time as
we know it. We will then go back to the continuous fellowship with God that
Adam and Eve had enjoyed before the fall and as it says, God will be all in
all. In other words, the heavenly dimension and the physical dimension will be
reunited. God will be in the center of everything so that the physical universe
will become once again self-correcting and entropy or decay will no longer
exist.
You
see, this whole phenomenon of decay and entropy and death has occurred simply
because the dimensions of heaven and the physical universe were separated by
our sin. Naturally without God’s infinite power directly sustaining our
physical universe everything started running down and God set that running down
time to 6000 years. He set our cosmic clocks to 6000 years.
So here
we stand at the end of cosmic time and what do we see? We see the natural
systems of this world breaking down. Nature is fluctuating wildly. The sun is
even throwing off coronal ejections and flashes of energy that threaten our
planet. We are in a solar minimum cycle that may become worse than any previous
cycles (according to the Bible) and this solar minimum weakens earth’s
electromagnetic shields so that we become more vulnerable to a host of cosmic
rays of all kinds. And these cosmic rays entering our planet unchecked are
turned into molten matter at the center of our earth causing expansion so that the
earth’s crust is buckling and cracking. We see this in the unprecedented number
of new volcanoes sprouting up all over the place.
But the
nations are in an uproar as well and society is becoming unhinged as people reject
God. Our financial empires are teetering on the brink of collapse and the nations
are gearing up for war. We have reached the time of the end so that every
system on earth is approaching an extinction level event.
Earth
is in the throes of its final violent shaking as we move into the final years
of God’s cosmic time clock. This is what Revelation is talking about and not
only the book of Revelation but the entire Bible is obsessed with this subject
of the “Day of the Lord.” It is a time like no other, just as Yeshua told us it
would be. And it is not a result of God throwing a temper tantrum. No! He set
an appointed time for sin to run its course. He set our cosmic clocks for 6000
years, after which Yeshua, who created this world in the first place, will come
and restore all things and to reset our time clocks to match heaven’s. He could do it all Himself with a wink of His eye, but He wants
us to understand. He wants heaven and earth to live in perfect harmony. He
wants man to once again fulfill the role for which he was created. And this
goes back to God’s eternal purposes.
David
pulled back the veil on these purposes a little when he said: “What is man that
Thou dost take thought of him? And the son of man that Thou dost care for him?
Yet thou hast made him a little lower than God and dost crown him with glory
and majesty. Thou dost make him to rule over the works of Thy hands; Thou hast
put all things under his feet.” Ps. 8:4-6.
God
created mankind to rule over His physical universe, but we could only do so, in
unity with Him. As mere physical beings such a job became impossible. We must
be temples of the living God and then He will empower us to rule over the works
of His hands once again. But the seventh millennium will be our training under the
leadership of Yeshua Himself, for we must learn how to live by God’s eternal
principles.
Now do
you see what Paul is saying in Romans 8: 19-23?
“For the
anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of
God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not of its own will, but
because of Him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself also will be
set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children
of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth
together until now. And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first
fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly
for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body.”
Oh that
the church would come to understand the plans and purposes of God so that even
now we could begin to function on all cylinders in unity with heaven. To the extent
that we ignore the appointed times of the Lord, to that extent we remain more
pagan than Christian and I believe that God has in recent times set signs in the
sun, moon and stars in coordination with His appointed times so that we will
get the message.
God is
calling out His remnant people so that He can begin to link heaven and earth
together again. It is no accident that we are becoming aware of His appointed
times at this point in history.
Time as
we know it is grinding to an end and God is preparing us to live on His time
and not our own. When that happens, then the earth will be filled with the knowledge
of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. Isa. 11:9
Since
heaven operates outside of time, God set up appointed times when heaven would
touch earth. This is why throughout history certain events have tended to occur
on these appointed times. Sometimes these appointed times are for fellowship
and worship, while sometimes they are intended for mid-course correction. And
since the fall feasts form the outline of end time events, we would do well to
understand them.
