Psalms 2

PSALMS CHAPTER 2

“Why are the nations in an uproar and the peoples devising a vain thing? The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers take counsel together against the Lord and against His Anointed;” Psalms 2:1, 2

I don’t think we could describe our nation and our world any better that David described it over 3000 years ago. Ultimately the push for globalism is a direct assault against Jesus Christ and His coming kingdom. The word “Anointed” can also be replaced with the word “Messiah” or “Christ” They all mean anointed.

And why do they hate both godly Jews and godly Christians so much? It is because Israel brought the Word of God and the Son of God and the Law of God into the world and the rulers of this world hate all three with a purple passion. And why do they hate godly Christians? It is because those who are truly born again carry the living Son of God within us by His Holy Spirit and the Word of God with all faith and the Law of God as written in our hearts. As such we carry a divine influence of light and holiness that shatters their darkness. And what are they saying about us?

“Let us tear their fetters apart, and cast away their cords from us.” Psalms 2:3

In their rage against the Son of God and His coming kingdom, they would rather destroy America and in their global aspirations they indeed need a destroyed America. They dream of a new global government free of individual nations wherein freedom can reign at last.

It was Ronald Reagan that said that government is the problem. Little do these small thinking people understand that if we unite the world, our national problems will become global problems. God has been thwarting globalist plans ever since the Tower of Babel, because God understands that absolute power corrupts absolutely. And Bible prophecy consistently warns of a coming global government, describing it as a monster, a non-descript beast that controls the finance, the religion and the politics of the world, reigning terror, mayhem and death to about 2/3 of the world’s population and enslavement upon the balance. Only the global elite will live in untold luxury while the rest of us will live in poverty and slavish conditions unprecedented in human history. So what does God say about all of this?

“He who sits in the heavens laughs. The Lord scoffs at them. Then He will speak to them in His anger and terrify them in His fury:” and He says: “But as for Me, I have installed My King upon Zion, My holy mountain.” Psalms 2:4-6

Can we not see why Satan is so desperate to preempt the reign of Christ from Mt. Zion? He and his henchmen are plotting to divide and conquer Jerusalem. He wants to take it over and to reign in the place of Christ. He wants to sit in the temple as God and to be worshipped as God. (See Daniel 11:31-36, and Revelation 13:3-10)

God laughs in derision at Satan’s plans. After all, He has seen Satan’s futile attempts at global rule for nearly 6000 years now and what has been the problem? Most of these world kingdoms first collapsed from the inside. Their sins and debauchery literally weakened them to the point where another kingdom on the rise could march in and take over. Satan wants to create an everlasting kingdom over which he can rule in the place of Christ, but the very principles upon which he operates are the principles that bring him down in the end. A nation built on lies can never survive and this coming global kingdom is built on lies from the start. Our own government is so corrupt with twisted sin and anarchy that God had to send in a president to clean house and to restore our protection over Israel lest we become one of the goat nations deemed unfit to remain in Christ’s coming kingdom.

Then in Psalms 2:7-10 David shows the prescient nature of prophecy sounding very much like the New Testament rather than the old when he said: “I will surely tell of the decree of the Lord; He said to Me, “Thou art My Son, today I have begotten Thee. Ask of Me and I will surely give the nations as Thine inheritance and the very ends of the earth as Thy possession. Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron. Thou shalt shatter them like earthenware.”

Here David introduces the coming millennial reign of Christ. Hebrews 1:1, 2 tells us that God has appointed His Son as heir of all things. And in verse 5 He says of Jesus: “Thou art My Son, today I have begotten Thee.” And Revelation 11:5 says: “And she gave birth to a son, a male child who is to rule all nations with a rod of iron and her child was caught up to God and to His throne.” And concerning His second coming Revelation 19:14, 15 says again: “And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, (This refers to the Saints. See verse 8) were following Him on white horses. And from His mouth comes a sharp sword so that with it He may smite the nations; and He will rule them with a rod of Iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God the Almighty”

No wonder Satan hates Christ and shudders at His soon coming, for Satan’s global kingdom will be smitten and broken into pieces and Christ will rule and reign over the earth from Jerusalem. And we, His saints will rule with Him as well for as it says in Revelation 2:26, 27: “And he who overcomes and he who keeps My deeds until the end, to him I will give authority over the nations and he shall rule them with a rod of iron, as the vessels of the potter are broken to pieces as I also have received authority from My Father…” This is certainly not talking about heaven. This is talking about His earthly millennial reign.

So David sums up this chapter by saying: “Now therefore, O kings, show discernment; take warning, O judges of the earth. Worship the Lord with reverence and rejoice with trembling. Do homage to the Son, lest He become angry and you perish in the way, for His wrath may soon be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!” Psalms 2:10-12

As I read Psalms 2, I want to shake my head. This could have been written today. It could not fit our present situation more perfectly. We read Bible prophecy and we quake in our boots at all of the things that the global Satanists threaten to bring upon us and we know that they will do so for a season because God has outlined their plans very well.

But we belong to a different kingdom and to a different King. When He comes onto the scene He will smite this global kingdom and smash it like a clay jar. He will break in into pieces, even as the statue in Daniel 2 is smitten and destroyed and He will then set up a kingdom that cannot be destroyed and He will rule the nations with a rod of iron and we, His remnant people who overcome will reign with Him.

Daniel 2 tells us that the kingdoms of Satan will be crushed all at the same time and that the stone kingdom that struck the statue will become a great mountain and will fill the whole earth.” A mountain in the Bible represents a government. Jesus and His saints are going to rule the nations with a rod of iron for 1000 years and when He has brought all enemies under His feet, then He will create a new heavens and a new earth. And as it says in Isaiah 9:6, 7:

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a child is given and the government (The stone kingdom of Daniel 2) will rest upon His shoulders; and His name will be called Wonderful, counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, on the throne of David (In the city of David… the city of the Great King, Yeshua in Jerusalem) and over his kingdom to establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness from then on and forevermore, the zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.”

Don’t you just love Him? No matter how threatening this global cabal seems to us today, our coming King of kings will smite these global kingdoms with the breath of His mouth and with the sword of His Word. He will bind Satan in the pit for a thousand years and rule the nations with a rod of iron according to the everlasting principles of justice and righteousness and holiness.

Then Satan will be released at the end of the thousand years, to entice those who have rebelled against the rule of righteousness. In other words, Jesus will drain the swamp one last time and when Satan leads this motley army against the camp of the saints, fire will come down from God out of heaven and destroy them all. Then even death and hell will be cast into the lake of fire and only then will Christ create a new heavens and a new earth in which sin will never rise again.

No wonder the saints standing on the Sea of Glass are shouting: “Great and marvelous are Thy works, O Lord God the Almighty; Righteous and true are Thy ways, thou King of the nations. Who shall not fear, O Lord and glorify Thy name? For thou alone art holy; for all the nations will come and worship before Thee, for Thy righteous acts have been revealed.” Rev. 15:3

It is time for us to take our stand with the King of kings. Nothing else matters. We are preparing to return as heaven’s armies. We are preparing to ride with the King on white horses. We are preparing to rule and reign with Him. We are promised that if we will overcome, this will be our future and how do we overcome? It is by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony.

Maybe it’s time to stop trying and to start believing. All of this is far above our pay grade, so to speak, but it is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Learn to live by the river of life that flows out of your innermost being. Extend your roots by the stream so that your life will bear much fruit. It is not your fruit. It is His fruit… the fruit of the Spirit. This fruit is not produced by trying. It is produced by believing. That He is able to do exceedingly abundantly beyond all that you ask or think.

Abraham believed God and it was accounted unto him as righteousness, and Paul tells us in Romans 4:23, 24 saying: Now not for his sake only was it written that it was reckoned to him, but for our sake also to whom it will be reckoned as those who believe in Him who raised our Lord from the dead. The Christian life is not made up of trying, but believing. So put your faith in Him and He will produce in you the fruit that He desires.
