LIFE IN THE SPIRIT
LIFE IN THE SPIRIT
“It is
only when we obey God’s laws that we can be quite sure that we really know Him.
The man who claims to know God but does not obey his laws is not only a liar
but lives in self-delusion. In practice the more a man learns to obey God’s
laws, the more truly and fully does he express his love for him. Obedience is the
test of whether we really live “in God” or not. The life of a man who professes
to be living in God must bear the stamp of Christ.” 1 John 2:3-6.
Life in
the Spirit is not lawlessness… in fact we can’t even keep the Laws of God
unless His Spirit dwells in us. In Him the Law is fulfilled as we walk not
according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
We need
to get this right. Much of what the church calls grace today is not grace at
all, but license to do our own thing. But our own thing needs to die with our
flesh so that we can be led by the Spirit and not by the flesh. This: contrary
to what many are being taught, is the way to true freedom.
It’s not legalism and it is not antinomianism,
but life in the Spirit as He bears His fruit in our lives and the fruit of the Spirit
fulfills the Law. Selah.
