ALMOST TOTAL DEVASTATION

ALMOST TOTAL DEVASTATION                 Today my heart goes out to the people of the Bahamas. For them Hurricane Dorian is more than a disaster. This is he wiping out of an entire infrastructure and all that it entails. They have no place to go and no place to escape. Houses and buildings and roads and power… everything is in a shamble of twisted and flooded debris. They can’t rebuild… they can only start over.                 This is the most powerful storm to ever hit the Bahamas and even the news described it as apocalyptic.                 An anonymous government official who regularly visits the Paul Begley show has been warning us for 6 years now that these waves of energy that are coming from outer space would increase earthquakes,...

JOB'S SECOND TEST

JOB’S SECOND TEST                 In the contest between God and Satan as revealed to us in the book of Job; his first test was in the loosing of everything he owned including his children. Job’s response to all of this tragedy was to say: “Naked cam I out of my mother’s womb and naked shall I return thither; the Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away; blessed by the name of the Lord.” Job 1:21                 Our trials in this world, not only serve to shape us into what and who we are, but they also reveal what and who we are. This is both a spiritual insight and a secular insight as well. You have heard the saying, “When the going gets tough the tough get going.” So “tough going” reveals who we are, because if we are tough, we will take life as a challenge and we will overcome the obstacles and win the day. ...

WHY SIT HERE UNTIL WE DIE?

WHY DO WE SIT HERE UNTIL WE DIE?                 Our pastor preached a powerful sermon last night based upon 2Kings chapter 7. The situation is set up in chapter 6 where it tells us that King Ben-hadad of Syria set up a siege around Samaria and they camped around the city until the people were starving to death. Their food supply had dwindled down to donkey’s heads and dove’s dung and people were eating their own children.                 Interestingly enough the king of Samaria blamed the prophet Elisha for their troubles and he made an oath that Elisha’s head would not remain on his body by the end of the day. Then Elisha appeared before the king and said, “Listen to the word of the Lord; thus says the Lord, ‘Tomorrow about this time a measure of fine flour shall be sold for a shekel and two measures of barley for a sh...

SONS OF GOD

SONS OF GOD                 The book of Job is reputed to be the oldest book in the Bible and it is thought that Job lived during the age between the flood of Noah and Abraham.   Job then becomes the first to introduce the sons of God to us even though they are mentioned in Genesis six.                 The sons of God become a theme throughout scripture. There are the sons of God who shouted for joy at the creation when God established the foundations of the earth. Job 38:7. There were the fallen sons of God in Gen. 6 that cohabited with human women in order to corrupt the human seed line thus preventing the birth of the Messiah. This resulted in the birth of giants called the Nephilim, who terrorized the world in the days of Noah.             ...

WHEN CALAMITY COMES

WHEN TROUBLE COMES                 “There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright and one that feared God and eschewed evil.” Job 1:1                 Job is sort of a mystery man. It is said that he lived during a period of time between Noah’s flood and Abraham. So we find ourselves wondering how it was that Job knew God and worshipped Him the same way that Adam had worshipped Him after the fall… by building an altar to the Lord.                 Godless scholars would have us believe that there was no connection between Adam and Abraham and they will go on to claim that Moses also learned His religion from the Egyptians and from Summarian myths and such, but this is simply not true. ...

OF THRESHING FLOORS

OF THRESHING FLOORS                                 Threshing floors have an interesting history in the Bible. In Genesis 50 Joseph and a great company of both family and Egyptians gathered on the threshing flor of Atad to mourn the death of Joseph’s father. It was on the threshing floor in Bethlehem at the barley harvest that Ruth and Boaz had their encounter and Boaz became the kinsman redeemer that redeemed Ruth and their marriage became the lineage of King David and eventually of Jesus Christ the Son of God.                 This story is so rich with symbolism and meaning that it cannot be passed by. Bethlehem was the town in which Lambs were raised for the temple sacrifices. So Ruth and Boaz, the progenitors of the Messiah, the true Lamb...

TRIED BY FIRE

TRIED BY FIRE                 It is interesting how the truths of the bible remain somehow vibrant and relevant to our times. Truth is that way you know. Truth remains forever relevant simply because truth and reality is the same thing and reality doesn’t change unless God changes it.                 One major change in our reality happened at the cross where Jesus swallowed up all of human history by His death and then offered us a new kingdom by His resurrection. Of course this is a reality that only changes as we by faith enter into that new kingdom. For everyone else the same old darkness rules and all is vanity.                 Satan and men have tried to change reality by changing times and laws that God has set, but notice what the ...
