LET JESUS DO THE WALKING             Many years ago I wrote 20 songs for 2 children’s CDs. They were recorded for a group called the Heritage Singers out of California and they sold these CDs (Cassette Tapes then) at their concerts.             Well, at any rate I was going through a box of musical memorabilia the other day and I stumbled onto that old tape called “Gospel Train” so I plunked it into my equally old cassette player and gave it a listen. TIME AND SPACE                 Albert Einstein called time an illusion. In other words time doesn’t exist as an entity. Time is related to movement since it takes time for a physical object to move from here to there. Time is also related to decay, since in our physical universe (since the fall of mankind) everything decays, suns burn out, stars explode, planets spin and orbit in perpetual motion and it is from such movement that we have our seasons.                 Our sun has cycles of solar minimums and solar maximums and our planets are protected from outer space by the sun’s heliosphere, a giant electromagnetic atmosphere in which our planets circle the sun. SIGNS THAT PASS SILENTLY BY                 “But as for you Bethlehem Ephrata, too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, from the days of eternity.” Mica 5:2                 Such a prophecy as this one in Micah cannot be construed in any other way than to be the announcement of a coming King who is eternal. It tells where He will be born and that He is appointed by God to be ruler over Israel. So we quote this text around Christmas time as we celebrate the birth of Christ, but the message continues on into our present day and we have to ask ourselves if we are just as blind as the people where who failed to recognize Jesus the first time around. EVOLVING?                                 There are many people that are placing all of their bets on humanity these days. The evolutionary concept is that mankind has been evolving for millions of years and that now our evolution is actually accelerating as our new technologies allow us to manipulate DNA, cure disease, unite the world, or to move away from arcane religious faith, since it tends to divide us.                 Accordingly atheism has now become the largest single people group in America, now standing at 21 percent. FOCUS                 After coming out of Babylonian Captivity to rebuild their temple, there arose over the ensuing decades and centuries a religious sect that wanted to restore truth to Israel. They had come out of a traumatic and prophetic time period that had spawned many prophets both good and bad. As we look back on it even as Jesus did in His time it seems that they stoned all of the prophets that brought them warnings, and listened to the good news prophets who led them astray.                 So they developed a system of what we call “fence laws,” a lesser light leading to the greater light of the Torah to protect the Torah from being broken.   A REASON TO CELEBRATE!                 Jesus came all the way from heaven to this earth to live and die and rise again in order to bring to us a New Covenant. This He did because the Old Covenant could not save us, nor was it designed to save us, but to point forward to the One who could. The Old covenant lays the groundwork for the New. But it is in the New Covenant that we now live.                 This is something worthy of our consideration during this season of new beginnings.
