THE GREATEST TRADGEDY

THE GREATEST TRADGEDY

Together Abishai and I are working on recording 3 CD projects made up of music I have written for this occasion. One CD is called “Into the Holy of Holies” and is a worship CD based on the patterns of the Sanctuary as we move from the outer court to the Holy Place and to the Most Holy Place.

The second CD is called “Quiet Reflections” and it is based upon songs I have written of a quiet and thought provoking nature. It is a reflection of our relationship with God and of the holiness of life and purpose in this world.

The third CD is called “On Every Island”. In it I have written a collection of songs reflecting the carefree musical sounds of the Caribbean. I love that genre as an avenue of expression that brings forth praise and worship and joy and sorrow and redemption in a whole new light.

Beyond these three CDs there will be a country CD and then a favorite hymns CD and that is all I have mapped out so far. I have hundreds of songs to choose from, since I am a fairly prolific song writer. Every song has been born out of times of personal worship and or Bible study, or sometimes borne out of personal experiences.

Like I told Abishai, I never really feel like I write the songs. They come to me, words and music at the same time, without effort. It is as though they have been handed to me from out of the ether as a song just waiting to be written. At any rate, God is the true source of all good things that make it into this kingdom of darkness and I would like to think that He gives us these songs as reflections of His light and His love to a dying world. Is this not what we are all called to be and to do?

As I was writing an intro for the song “It’s A Long Road Back To Eden”: I wrote a one minute 4- way conversation between God and Adam and Eve and Satan. It was taken right out of Genesis and as I was writing the words down from the conversation surrounding Genesis 3:15 I was struck with the enormity of what took place there on that fateful day. So I will share the conversation with you along with the words of the song as food for thought on this Sabbath day.

GOD: Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?

ADAM: The woman you gave to be with me… she gave me from the tree and I ate.

GOD: Eve, my child… What is this you have done?

EVE: It was the serpent! He deceived me and I ate.

GOD: So… Satan… because you have done this cursed are you more than cattle and more than every beast of the field; on your belly you shall go and dust shall you eat all the days of your life; And I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head and you shall bruise him on the heel.

SATAN: Hiss, rattle and roar

GOD: Now you must go My children. You have chosen a new king and a new kingdom. This garden will no longer be your home.

(A loud and jolting crash of thunder as Adam and Eve cry out in anguish and heartbreak)

EVE: No… No… NO!

ADAM: Eve, what have we done?

God had created this world and then He had set up His kingdom in the Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve were to have been fruitful and multiplied, thus spreading the borders of Eden until it had filled the whole earth. But what Adam and Eve did in listening and obeying the serpent is they chose a new king and a new kingdom. This world became a kingdom of darkness. Eden was taken from reach and Satan became the god of this world. This earth remains a kingdom of darkness to this day and the only way out of it is to receive the promised Seed… to die to this dark kingdom and to be born again into the kingdom of God’s dear Son.

IT’S A LONG ROAD BACK TO EDEN

It must have been so beautiful when everything was new

And we can just imagine all the love between you two

A chance to be immortal should thrill you through and through

So why did you choose darkness when God’s light was there on you?

It must have seemed a good thing, this knowledge from the tree

Although we wish you’d thought it through and chosen to be free

I guess our real advantage is the hindsight that we share

Here on this war torn planet we are painfully aware

CHORUS

(That/But) it’s a long road back to Eden

What a price we’ve paid for our mistake

It’s a long road back to Eden

And heaven knows the price that Jesus paid

VERSE 2

I guess you were so innocent you could not see the pain

Nor understand the consequence of choices that you made

But now we know the answers, the choices seem so clear

To trust in our Creator and to love it when He’s near

I guess we cannot blame you for choices that you made

We make the same choice every day in oh so many ways

I’m thankful for the promise that sin will be undone

He guaranteed salvation when He sent His only Son. (Repeat Chorus)

So there you have it. The truth is we can’t blame Adam and Eve for what they did. We make the same choices every day. Some chose not to be born again into the kingdom of God’s dear Son. Others come to the altar, but then they often choose to live by the flesh rather than by the Spirit. Our flesh belongs to the kingdom of Satan and if we live by it, then we are participating in this kingdom of darkness. And yet our bodies have become temples of the Holy Spirit through the blood of Jesus. We can choose to live by that kingdom that Jesus has placed in our hearts.

By the same token, we cannot blame the Jews for rejecting Jesus the first time around. Today, much of the world is rejecting Jesus with the full knowledge of who Jesus is and what He did for us.  Even many Christians are falling away from the faith and choosing once again the kingdom of darkness and its king.

So salvation involves our choice to receive the gift of eternal life from the true Lamb of God. We do this by entering by faith into Jesus’ death and then being raised up in the power of His resurrection. In this transaction we die to this kingdom of darkness, to be born again into the kingdom of Jesus Christ.

Our salvation is an exact reversal of what took place in the Garden of Eden on that fateful day and yet, most people do not choose to accept this wonderful salvation. We have always had this choice to make on a personal basis, but now, the entire world is being pushed into an epic time of decision between the Mark of the Beast and the Seal of God. We will either live by the spirit of Satan or the Spirit of Christ.

“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.” Eph. 4:30
