REST, NOT SWEAT PART 2

FAITH, NOT SWEAT (PART 2)

When God created Adam and Eve the first thing He did, before they had done a single thing, was to enter them into REST. Why would He do that? It was because God intended for us to live in a constant state of rest, which is only possible if God is on board.

It was only when sin and separation occurred that sweat entered the picture. Jesus cured that problem by His death and resurrection so that He can enter into us once again by His Holy Spirit.

Obviously then the intent is that we can once again enter into the REST that Adam and Eve lost in the fall. For when Jesus Christ is on board once again we indeed enter His REST, for we have ceased from our labors even as God did from His.

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden and I will give you rest. Mt. 11:28

“For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His. Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest lest anyone fall through following the same example of disobedience. Heb. 4:10

Our true REST then is when Christ dwells in our hearts through faith… when we rest from our own works and learn to live by His work and power. Receiving His Holy Spirit is the REST wherewith He has called the weary to rest.  (See Galatians chapter 3) for in it Paul asks the question: “Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh? Gal. 3:3.

This argument Paul enters into right after Galatians 2:20 where he talks about being crucified with Christ so that we can live by His power and not our own. Think on these things. Have we made REST into a work of the Law, or have we entered REST through Jesus Christ?
