THE FINAL BATTLE
THE FINAL BATTLE
“Finally,
be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor
of God that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil, for
our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against
the powers, against the world forces of this darkness in the heavenly places.”
Ephesians 6:10-12.
The
road to your purpose is strewn with the bodies of the dead and the dying. Look
around you. You are surrounded with the carnage of war. Examine the bodies of
the dead. Notice that most of them are not human. Your enemies have been the
demons of doubt and fear, of pride and lust, of self-will and rebellion. Some
of these battles have been long and bitter. You thought you could never win.
Look
behind you. The road seems endless. As far as the eye can see lie the broken
carcasses of those enemies with which you once fought. Some of them have dried
up and bleached out like bones in the desert while others ooze with the coagulating
blood of recent victories.
Suddenly
you realize that you could not possibly have wreaked so much havoc upon the
enemy alone. Heaven’s armies have fought by your side. Warriors of prayer and
encouragement and council have held up your weary arms. A cloud of witnesses
has cheered you on. Now you are nodding your head in recognition of those who
have guarded you. Their knees are calloused with the scars of the intercessor.
Looking
down the road ahead of you, you perceive that the new enemies you face will be
more subtle. You are now battle hardened. If they are to take you this time
around, they are going to have to use different weapons… weapons that look and
sound good… paths that seem right but end in destruction” I have called you out
of hiding and into the war.”
I have
called you my old friend to fight in the armies of the Lord. In this battle,
your eyes must be fixed on Me and not on the enemy. You are called to walk on
water…to tread over all of the power of the enemy. You will trample on serpents
and scorpions. Do not look at them! Look at Me! Your armor is divinely powerful
for the destruction of fortresses. It is charged with supernatural shielding.
It only works when I provide its energy and light. Keep your batteries charged…
your weapons sharp.
Look
ahead! At the end of the dark road you can see the gates of the city. Light
streams from within her walls through gates of dazzling splendor. Beyond her gleaming
portals lie the rewards of the victor… the faithful… the humble foot soldiers
of the Lord. A crown of life awaits you. Call your fellow soldiers together for
one last push. Tighten each other’s straps and check each other’s armor. Pass
around the canteens. Dress the wounds of the injured. Rally them for the final
battle. Don’t let down your guard. You are coming into the last home stretch! Ephesians 6:10-19.
