TWO GREAT MISCONCEPTIONS

TWO GREAT MISCONCEPTIONS

There are two great misconceptions in the body of Christ in these last days:

1.       That the law was done away

2.       That the law was not done away

Now before every one on either side chokes on their sandwich let me explain.

God has always desired intimacy with His people. He had that with Adam and Eve until sin entered          and severed their connection. Adam and Eve had been filled with the spiritual DNA of God when He breathed into them the breath of life. They were children of God. But the day that they chose to believe the lies of the Nachash (the serpent) they received a new DNA. It was the DNA of the seed of the serpent.

Everyone born of the seed of Adam to this day is born with the fallen DNA of fallen Adam and we belong to Adam’s fallen race until the day that we are born again of the seed of Christ at which time we become once again children of God. We receive His spiritual DNA and we become His children and we can call Him our Father.

Now we need to realize and understand that as long as we carry the DNA of fallen Adam we cannot keep God’s laws. We may technically force ourselves to obey the Ten Commandments, but that doesn’t result in our having the DNA of God. We are just children of Adam trying to be like God by our own legalistic efforts.

God knew this and that is why He wanted them to listen to His voice at Mt. Sinai. He wanted to impart His Spirit to them. He wanted to make them holy. But they rejected the voice of God out of fear and so they told Moses to go up and hear what God had to say. So instead of writing His laws and His character upon their hearts that day, God had to write down laws of tablets of stone. If they would not be guided by the law written in their hearts, then they would be externally controlled by the law written on stone.

So now when Gabriel came to Mary many generations later, what did he say to her? He said:      “The Holy Spirit shall come upon you and the power of the Most High God will overshadow you, and for this reason the holy offspring shall be called the Son of God.” Luke 1:35 Luke 1:35

What does this tell us? It tells us that this Jesus who was born of a human earthly mother was nevertheless conceived by the Seed of our Heavenly Father so that for the first time since the fall of Adam a man was once again born with the DNA of God.

Now when we receive that same Holy Spirit into our hearts and lives we too become children of God that carry His spiritual DNA. Now when this happens and we receive the Spirit of Christ are we now going to please God by doggedly keeping the Ten Commandments on stone, or are we going to live by the new DNA of God as children of God?

So this is why both conceptions are wrong above. The law has not been done away and yet the law has been done away. How can this be? This is what Paul spends so much time trying to explain. IN one sentence he is saying that the law has been done away, obsolete, not of faith, of the flesh… and then on the other hand HE is saying that the Law is holy and righteous and good and that we do not make voice the law through faith. What on earth is he trying to say and why do so many Christians stand on one side or the other of his argument while missing the point?

I believe that the key to this riddle is found, like so many things are in Romans 8:1-4. Here in these few verses we have three laws introduced. I quote Romans 8 quite often because it is the kingpin to so many of Paul’s teachings. So let’s quote it first and then we can break it down/

“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death, for what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh in order that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.”

Okay, so we have three laws listed here:

1.       The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus ( God’s DNA)

2.       The law of sin and death (Satan’s DNA)

3.       The Law, the Ten Commandments

So, what this text says is that when you receive God’s DNA, (Law #1) It sets you free from Satan’s DNA ( Law #2) in order that the Ten Commandments (Law #3) might be fulfilled in us who do not live by Satan’s DNA, but who walk according to God’s DNA (Law #1)

In other words we live by the Law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus. When we are born again we are born of God’s spiritual Seed by the Holy Spirit and the Christian life is made possible as we live by that Spirit and not by our fallen flesh.

Those who set out to keep the Commandments of God, never do so. They will fail every time because they are children of Satan’s fallen, or rather Adam’s fallen DNA. No matter how hard they try, they will not keep God’s commandments because it includes far more than mere law keeping. Sin is also falling short of the glory of God and no about of human effort will ever produce the glory of God in you.

This is why Jesus said that we must be born again… born of incorruptible seed… born of the Spirit…for as Paul says: “for all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God.” Rom. 8:14

So when you see the dragon in Revelation 12 pursuing the Remnant of her seed who keep the commandments of God and who hold to the testimony of Jesus, this is not talking about a group of people that keep the commandments the way the Pharisees did. We see a group that is keeping them like Jesus did. He is living every moment by the Spirit of God. (God’s DNA) He is hearing God’s voice as Adam and Eve did before the fall and the Law of God is being perfectly fulfilled in Him but He is walking not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

No wonder the dragon will be so enraged with the remnant of her seed. They will be like Jesus, walking in His Spirit and hearing His voice and they, like Jesus, will be doing what they see the Father doing and saying only what they hear the Father saying.

There are so many people who claim to be God’s remnant people because they keep the commandments and yet they deny  the fullness of the Spirit in their lives, they deny the New Birth and they go on year after year struggling to do what flesh can never do.

For those people God has a simple message: “I miss you. You know many things about Me, but you do not know Me. Receive of My Holy Spirit so that we can walk and talk together as friends.”

My friends... don’t settle for a struggle in the flesh in which you always seem to be on the edge and not in the middle of God’s plans for you. Receive God’s DNA and that DNA will set you free from Satan’s DNA so that God’s law and plan will be fulfilled in you as you walk by God’s DNA and not by Satan’s DNA.

Our flesh is born with Satan’s DNA in it and we can’t please God in the flesh. (Rom. 8:5-8) We must be born again… born of incorruptible seed and it is that incorruptible seed that will bring forth life in you that will never pass away.

Just as the Holy Spirit came upon Mary, so He comes upon us and we too become children of God who cry out ABBA Father. By faith we are Abraham’s offspring and heirs according to promise.

This is perhaps the most important message that those who aspire to be among God’s Remnant people can receive.

“But an hour is coming and now is when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. God is spirit; and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”  John 4:23, 24. This Spirit we receive when we are born again, in fact it is the only way to be born again. In that New Birth we receive the Spiritual DNA of God by which we can now call Him our Father.

We are the Remnant of her seed and that seed is Christ.  “For you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable through the living and abiding word of God.” 1 Peter 1:23
