WHAT IS A FALSE PROPHET?
WHAT IS A FALSE PROPHET?
There
is hardly a preacher, minister, prophecy teacher or Bible teacher on the internet
that is not called a false prophet by someone. Some, I’m sure are used by Satan
to discredit the word of God and every messenger that tries to teach it. However,
some are well meaning Christians who want to warn people of false teaching. If
so, then they need to use the right terminology. (A good example would be: “I
don’t agree with that view because… and then share pertinent Bible texts.) I,
for one, value such information.
A false
prophet is not someone who has a different interpretation of prophecy than you
do. It is not someone who holds to different doctrines.
A false
prophet is one who speaks in the name of the Lord saying something like, “Thus
saith the Lord”, or “The Lord told me,” and then the message proves to be false
or doesn’t come true.
We can’t
go around calling people false prophets just because we don’t agree with their
doctrine.
As for me…
I am a student of the Bible with a passion to know and to understand Bible
prophecy. I am not satisfied with tradition because tradition has a bad record
and I firmly believe that we should study to show ourselves approved unto God…
workmen that need not be ashamed.
We
should also try our best to avoid sharing the things we learn in the form of an
argument. If we live by the Spirit then we must bear the fruit of the Spirit. I
do not want to grieve the Holy Spirit by trampling on love to prove my point.
Rather I am simply sharing my journey with the hopes that what I share will cause
people to think and to wonder and sometimes maybe even learn something new.
If I
have turned into something of a watchman on the wall, it is because there are
so few pastors in the world who are actually teaching Bible prophecy and
preparing people for what lies directly ahead. Now I feel a responsibility to
share what I see, even if it makes me look like a fool at times. Someone has to
step out there and ask the tough questions and seek for the tough answers.
The true
Gospel is being lost. True repentance is being lost. The cross and the blood of
Jesus are no longer being taught. The world is sinking into a time described so
accurately in Bible prophecy and no one is talking about it. We are satisfied
with “God is good all the time” bumper stickers. Of course God is good all the
time, but He is coming as Judge and He is now warning us to repent, to wake up and
to prepare for His coming and/or whatever comes between now and then.
Jesus
is coming with a kingdom in which there is no sin and He will fill it with
people who have dealt with sin by the blood of the Lamb, who have denied self
and taken up their cross and followed after Him. He is looking for a Bride
without spot or wrinkle. Revelation 19:7, 8 says:
“Let us
rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has
come and HIS BRIDE HAS MADE HERSELF READY.
And it was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and
clean; for the fine linen is the RIGHTEOUS ACTS OF THE SAINTS.”
Today’s
Gospel has been gutted and it is making a huge crowd of foolish virgins who
will not be ready for the marriage supper of the Lamb.
Try to
remember this: Nearly every true prophet in the Bible was killed for what he
said. Hebrews 11 tells the story of the faithful.
I am
not a prophet, but a fellow student. I am not always right and so I invite and
respect alternative views. All I ask is that we deal with our questions in the
spirit of the Fruit of the Spirit. We do not want to grieve the Holy Spirit
with our attitudes. I feel great love for all of you who read my meanderings and
I look forward with great anticipation to the time when we will be sharing
eternity.
Let’s
study together. As I have discovered from experience, sometimes, really “dumb questions”
have really good answers. Blessings to all
