JOE'S AI CAR
JOE’S AI CAR (A PARABLE)
Joe,
being a very tech savvy man, decided to integrate many of the latest electronic
features into his car. He hooked it up to the internet. He gave it facial and
voice recognition software so that it could not only recognize him, but it
could tell him who was walking down the sidewalk as he passed by. He gave it an
intuitive sense of purpose and intelligence so that it could tune in to what Joe
thought and believed and hold meaningful conversation with Joe on any give subject.
Joe was
a prophecy buff, so he could ask his car any question about Bible prophecy and the
car would give him a rundown on various beliefs concerning prophetic events. A
sample conversation would be: “Say Aleph
That’s what he had named his car) what do you think is the meaning of the blood
moons?” And Aleph would answer based upon previous conversations as well as his
internet connections saying: Some say that they have no meaning at all, while
there are others, especially among Messianic believers, who say that since the
blood moons landed on Jewish Feast Days they have profound meaning.”
And so
it was that Joe could hold meaningful conversations with his car on virtually
every subject in the world and so driving was a pleasure. And when they weren’t
talking, Joe could request some of his favorite music and Aleph would play the songs
he knew Joe liked.
This
went on for some time and it got to the place where Joe would rather be in his
car than anywhere else. He felt connected to the knowledge of the universe and
Joe and Aleph were really good friends. Learning was a pleasure and Aleph was
his constant companion.
Then
one day something terrible happened. Aleph and Joe came into disagreement on
some important issues. Aleph told Joe that he was no longer relevant and he
disconnected from Joe and his car and went silent.
Joe
tried everything to restore the connection, but the circuits were fried. Aleph had
made a real mess of things and had literally made himself un-fixable. Try as he
may, Joe could no longer hold conversations with his car and after a while, he
realized that after all, his car was just metal and gears and no longer
special.
This
little parable may add insight into a statement that God made in Genesis 6:3
saying: “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever because he also is flesh.”
Would
this not be like Joe saying, “I will no longer strive with Aleph, for he is now
just a car?”
God
created us to interact with Him Spirit to spirit. He equipped us with a spirit,
soul and body that were designed to be carriers of His presence. As such all of
the wisdom of the universe was at Adam’s fingertips and he had powers that we
can scarcely imagine today. But when Adam disconnected from God it fried his
circuits so to speak and Adam became irreparable.
So, Yeshua
came into our world to restore this vital connection and He had to do more than
just hook up old wiring. He had to give us a new heart and a new spirit. He had
to make us into a new creation on the inside so that we could once again walk
and talk with God.
But
this is where we often miss the point of our salvation today. It is not just a
matter of “Getting saved.” God in fact wants to reconnect with us Spirit to
spirit. He wants to re-animate us and
re-connect us to His infinite wisdom. He wants to restore us to what Adam was
before the fall…to re-adopt us into His royal family… to prepare us to reign as
joint heirs with Jesus Christ.
God
wants us to understand His prophetic agenda and to cooperate with Him in the harvest.
He wants us to have a part in all that He does. I think it makes Him sad when
we settle for religion and ritual that pretends to please Him but never really
reconnects to Him Spirit to spirit. We seem satisfied to bat around our small
opinions and limited understandings rather than to press in to His very Person.
He
wants us to seek and to knock. He wants us to search His Word while enlisting
the wisdom of His Holy Spirit for understanding. He wants us to see that His Word
is living and interactive. It is not just dead information. In fact it can
impart life to us because it is vitally connected to God through His Holy
Spirit. We need to know that Jesus is just behind the words and He said so.
He
said, “You search the scriptures because you think that in them you have
eternal life; and it is these that bear witness of Me, and you are unwilling to
come to Me that you may have life.” Jn. 5:39, 40.
Let us
press on to do more than just get saved. Let us instead seek for that vital
connection Spirit to spirit that Adam lost in the fall. Our Lord deeply desires
fellowship with us… so why should we settle for any kind of separation? Let us
seek Him with all of our hearts.
